Bezalel was the man who was selected to construct the sanctuary in the Book of Exodus. The name "Bezalel" means "in the shadow [protection] of God." (Exodus 35:30-35). Bezalel was highly gifted as a craftsman. God gave him great skill. He had many apprentices under him whom he instructed well in the arts. They worked engraving precious metals and stones. He was called by God to direct the construction of the tent of meeting. We too all have various skills that can be developed. It is incidentally interesting that three of the materials that Bezalel and his apprentices used in their art work were Gold, Silver and Bronze. These also happen to be the names of three levels of Arts Award.
